It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the Board President for Healthy Charlotte Alliance for the 2019-2020 year. Healthy Charlotte Alliance is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded 78 years ago by spouses of physicians. While embracing its long history, this organization has stepped boldly forward, designing its future to remain relevant, community focused and inclusive with a new membership model inviting anyone with a passion for our mission to join us.
Our mission is to improve the health and quality of life for all people of Mecklenburg County. Healthy Charlotte Alliance fulfills this mission in three ways…
• Health Education Programming – Convening experts to deliver educational programming on relevant and timely health topics.
• Volunteer Programming – Engaging members who volunteer their time through meaningful service opportunities with local health nonprofits.
• Grant-making – Financially investing in health programs demonstrating proven impact in the community.
With its rich history, including $1.9 million in grants reinvested, Healthy Charlotte Alliance has deep roots in this community. We are grateful to those members who had the vision to found Hospitality House, Teen Health Connection, NC MedAssist and to support other projects still improving the health in our community today.
If you have a passion for our mission, please consider joining us by becoming a member. Membership is open to both men and women who have an interest in becoming more informed and engaged in community health issues. There is no required time commitment. The frequent lunch and learns and volunteer opportunities allow members to plug in for what interests them and as their schedule permits.
Healthy Charlotte Alliance has a tiered membership model so folks can become members at the level that feels most comfortable to them, receiving a range of benefits, including discounts on programs as well as an important vote in the annual grant cycle.
Becoming a member of Healthy Charlotte Alliance is a philanthropic investment, offering an opportunity to learn, have fun, invest, engage and positively impact our community.
In the 2019-2020 year we will continue to provide pertinent health education, award grants to deserving nonprofits whose missions align with ours and fulfill our mission of building a healthier community.
